Ideation & Planning
We begin our product creation process by researching innovative solutions to daily needs, both at home and work. Our aim is to design functional, modern, and aesthetically pleasing products that are also environmentally conscious.

Product design and development
Once the initial product design and desired features are established, we collaborate with pattern-makers to assess feasibility, refine design features, and ensure material suitability. This process culminates in the production of initial samples for rigorous product assessment and testing.

Collection & Sorting
We collect pre-loved sailcloth and deadstock fabric from our partner sailmaker and generous donors. Sorting the sails based on type, unique features, stitching, and their story is a crucial step in our product creation process. This meticulous approach enables us to optimize every part of the sailcloth, minimizing waste destined for landfills. By documenting each sail's history and significance, we create products that are truly one-of-a-kind and meaningful.

Pre-Cut
The sail is meticulously cut into smaller subsections, allocating them to specific product ranges based on material condition, sailcloth type (Dacron, Mylar, Laminate), and weight.

Washing & Preparation
Next, we carefully wash the sailcloth using biodegradable detergent and employ air drying methods to conserve energy and resources.

Final Pattern Cut
Working with a precision cutting company, we individually place product patterns to ensure precision and capture important features and patterns. This meticulous approach allows us to create products that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. By tracing odd-shaped leftover pieces, we utilize every scrap of sailcloth, further minimizing waste.

Sewing and Assembly
Our manufacturing partner, specializing in high-end fashion garments and products in New Zealand and Australia, handles the sewing process. We use marine-quality UV-resistant thread to ensure durability and resilience against the elements. Each product undergoes rigorous quality control inspections, meeting our high standards of environmental sustainability, durability, and performance before receiving its "emaré" label.

Shipping
We minimize packaging and exclusively utilize recycled materials for shipping, actively reducing waste and our environmental impact. At emaré, we believe that every choice we make, from the components we use to the materials we ship with, plays a vital role in creating sustainable products that prioritize the well-being of our planet.
